Ex-contracts manager Jonathan Rochead is celebrating his first year in business as a Mac Tools franchisee, proving that those with no industry experience can achieve entrepreneurial success.
In fact, Rochead attributes his previous career at a sports construction company for helping him drive the growth of his new franchise business. Rochead has noted that in his previous job he became accustomed to providing the customer service he now gives as a “Mac Man”.
Mac Tools, which opened UK operations in 1990, manufactures tools and equipment for the automotive industry which are retailed exclusively through its sales force of mobile franchisees.
According to the franchise – which claims to have enjoyed 25% year-on-year growth – franchisees with no motor industry experience join in equal numbers to those who have spent years in the trade.
On his experience as a self-employed franchisee, Rochead said: “There’s so much less stress in my life now, or should I say a different sort of stress – a positive one that motivates me when I wake up each morning.
“I relish being able to make decisions that have a direct effect on my business, it’s so rewarding.”
